NASAP Policy and Process for Submitting Events
To share your Section/Affiliate Group events on this page, please send a Word document attached to an email that contains:
1. Name of Host/Sponsor of event
2. Date of event
3. Time of event (start and end) - this will get posted on the website in EST time zone just FYI
4. Location - if online you should consider making a registration form so you're not publishing the link to join and then face potential zoom crashers
5. Title and Presenter info - keep this brief, we don’t need full bio for presenter
6. Registration link or website for more information
Events can be section meetings, workshops, conferences, TAP Talks, etc. Do not send flyers that have to then be searched to pull out the information. You can send a website link where a flyer is posted but there is no way to load a flyer into the events page.
As a member of NASAP and/or a member of a NASAP Affiliate group, you can post information yourself in the public Facebook NASAP Group. The Facebook admin team can then share it to the NASAP Facebook Page.
Keep in mind that the office staff will not post events to the website calendar that are only shared on Facebook. An email with the above information must be sent directly to the office for the office to then share it on the website Events page.
The email to send information to is executivedirector@alfredadler.org
Please note that all events are listed in the US Eastern Time Zone (EST)

What’s the Story? considers an individual’s Early Recollections or perceived important memories as if, “strung together,” they compose a short story. We then interpret that “story” by applying critical thinking methods adapted from literary and educational institutions, such as The Great Books Foundation, which promote a deeper comprehension of a “text.”

Adlerian Network "Grief"
Adlerian Network invites you to this free session to explore the topic “Grief” with Chris Garwick-Foley, MA, LPC, a graduate of the Alfred Adler Graduate School, who has been counseling clients for 25 years. She has a remote private practice addressing issues of grief and loss, anxiety, and relationship concerns. Her practice is based on the knowledge that we are all holistic beings with physical, emotional and spiritual dimensions, dynamically interwoven to produce the unique individuals we are.
While one may try to push the effects of loss aside, it is not possible to completely, effectively deny grief forever. One of the reasons for this is that without fully processing a loss, each time a person experiences a new loss of equal or greater significance, he or she will naturally, expectedly, re-grieve every previous loss in her life of the same or similar magnitude as the new loss.

Adlerian Network presents "How Do We Know We Are Done"
John Reardon, MA, Speaker
Adler had some specific understanding of this question based on his in-depth comprehension of humans and their purpose for behavior.
Let’s touch on how he:
- pictured human success
- named human dynamics
- why and how humans defeat themselves
- dispelled cultural illusions blocking human success.
And, how Adler understood that learning and the promotion of learning is an engine of therapy.
John Reardon has functioned as an Adlerian therapist, organizational developer and trainer, teacher, and mentor since 1984. As a Chicago student, he trained with Mosak, Powers, Schneider, Grunwald, Lobl, Wright, and Bartholomew. Given these roots, he established Phoenix Process Consultants in 1984, and remains in practice today. He taught at Adler Graduate School from 1997 until 2015, teaching therapy classes, Adlerian Organizational Development, and numerous workshops. He has written eight books and numerous articles

“A New Approach to Couple Counseling”
Presenter: Susan Pye Brokaw
When coming to counseling, couples tend to focus on blaming their partner for their problems. This new approach to couple counseling moves the focus to each individual and their responsibility for the problems in the relationship. Some psychoeducation is also used. Throughout the therapy, any improvement is acknowledged as moving toward success. This presentation will describe the process for six sessions and beyond.
Susan Pye Brokaw is the founder and Chairperson of the board of the Adlerian Network. She was a founder, core faculty member and now faculty emeritus of the Adler Graduate School. She has been a practicing mental health practitioner for more than 50 years.
